Hi! I decided to open a new category to document my life as a medical student here in University of Sydney... Well, just an overview of the program:
- 4 year graduate-entry medical program: Means you need to have a basic degree to enter the program
- Clinical skills in hospital right from first week of course
Follow up:
Yesterday was my clinical day and we had a session whereby patients were brought in to allow us to listen for heart murmurs and other heart problems... If anyone thinks that being a doctor is just putting a stethoscope around their neck, they cannot be more wrong... Listening for heart murmurs is difficult (well at least for me)... Becasue they are quite soft most of the time and with all the background noises (from your tuotr speaking to your fellow students talking), you really have to strain to hear them... Not only do you have to hear the murmurs but at the same time you have to time them to the heartbeat and also to note what their character is... Hey, I'm not complaining... in fact I'm amazed
and I learned so much from that session alone... Sure beats listening to lectures...![]()
Next week is another clinical exam for me...
to test how much I learned (or not learned)...
So till next time...
